Helps colic and constipation. Massage helps the gas move along and out of the intestines. Constipation can be helped with regular massage to the area.
It helps soothe and calm babies and can result in better sleep
It can relieve pain and discomfort through distraction. Massage also produces endorphins which are the body’s own natural painkiller. Endorphins can block pain signals reaching the brain.
Massage strengthens the immune system and the primary systems of the body, the respiratory, circulatory nervous system and gastro intestinal system. When a baby is born the immune system and circulatory system are not mature and massage helps these systems to mature.
Massage helps with the bonding process and helps parents build a healthy relationship with their baby.
Massage helps communication. Parents can see their baby respond to touch verbally and physically.
Massage can help parents feel more confident when handling their babies.
Babies can feel stressed and when parents can see that they are helping their baby this can give them more confidence.
Fathers can feel more involved, especially when babies are breast fed.
